Trump’s threat came after Noah joked about him wanting Greenland, implying a connection to Jeffrey Epstein.

In a Truth Social post, Trump denied ever visiting Epstein Island, calling Noah “poor, pathetic, talentless, dope” and accusing him of making false and defamatory statements.Trump threatens legal action against ‘pathetic’ Trevor Noah for Epstein joke

The comedian’s comments and Trump’s reaction occurred shortly after the release of redacted Jeffrey Epstein files, in which Trump’s name was mentioned on several occasions.

While acknowledging he knew Epstein in the 1980s and 1990s, Trump has consistently denied any inappropriate involvement with the financier.

KEY FACTS

In a post on Truth Social early on Monday, Trump wrote: “The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable.”

“CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,” he said in an apparent reference to Disney taking over the broadcast rights for the award ceremony starting next year.

The president then called out Noah’s joke, implying he spent time at Epstein’s island, saying:

“Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!”
“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media,” the post added.
Trump then warned Noah, saying he “better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast,” and added: “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C.”
The president said he will sue the comedian for “plenty” of money, as he cited the financial settlements he secured from ABC and CBS and wrote: “Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”

WHAT DID NOAH SAY ABOUT TRUMP AND EPSTEIN?

Noah made several jibes at Trump throughout the show and before the “Song of the Year” winner was named, he said: “Song of the Year — that is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.” He then responded to a few gasps in the audience, saying “oh I told you it’s my last year! What are you going to do about it?”

WHAT ELSE DID NOAH SAY ABOUT TRUMP?

Noah’s monologues throughout the show included several jibes at the president. At one point, Noah took a swipe at talks of Trump running for a third term, saying: “This is my sixth and last year hosting the Grammys. I’ve loved my time, but I believe in term limits. I wanted to set an example for anyone who might be watching the show. Leave when your time is up.” While listing the artists present at the ceremony, Noah said “Nicki Minaj is not here…She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.”

WHAT HAS TRUMP SAID ABOUT EPSTEIN’S ISLAND?

Trump and Epstein reportedly had a falling out in the mid 2000s and the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort claims it banned him in 2007. Last year the president said the ban was a result of Epstein stealing from “people who worked for me.” On the issue of visiting the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender’s private island in the Caribbean, Trump said last year: “I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down…In one of my very good moments, I turned it down.”
