    Lionel Messi is reportedly earning between $70 million and $80 million per year at Inter Miami CF, according to the club’s co-owner Jorge Mas.

    Salary and Guaranteed Pay

    Data from the MLS Players Association shows:

    • Base salary: about $12 million per year
    • Guaranteed compensation: $20.45 million

    This makes Messi the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer.

    Other top MLS earners include:

    • Son Heung‑min (LAFC) – about $11.15 million
    • Sergio Busquets (Inter Miami) – about $8.75 million

    Messi’s agreement goes beyond salary and bonuses. The deal includes equity in Inter Miami, which will activate after he retires.

    The club’s value has surged since his arrival:

    • 2023 valuation: about $585 million
    • Current valuation (Forbes): about $1.35 billion

    The ownership element of his contract is believed to generate around $60 million annually, depending on the club’s increasing value.

    Contract Duration

    Messi’s contract runs through the 2028–29 MLS season.

    Messi’s arrival has dramatically increased global attention on Inter Miami and significantly boosted the financial profile of Major League Soccer.
