ICPC Summons Dangote Over Petition Against Ex-NMDPRA Boss Farouk Ahmed

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has summoned billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote to appear before its investigators in Abuja on Monday over a corruption petition he filed against Farouk Ahmed, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a senior ICPC source confirmed that a special investigative panel has been constituted to handle the petition, following directives from the Commission’s chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN.

Dangote is expected to appear in person or be represented by his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, and present evidence supporting his allegations when the investigation formally begins.

In the petition, Dangote accused Ahmed of corruption, misappropriation of funds, and living far beyond his lawful income as a public servant. Central to the allegations is the claim that Ahmed spent more than $7 million on the education of his four children at elite schools in Switzerland, without verifiable sources of income to justify the expenditure.

Dangote also alleged that Ahmed deliberately undermined Nigeria’s domestic refining efforts by colluding with international oil traders and importers through the continued issuance of fuel import licences.

Although Farouk Ahmed has since resigned his position, the ICPC has stated that his resignation does not affect the ongoing investigation. The anti-graft agency has formally requested Dangote to submit all documentary and material evidence backing his claims.

ICPC spokesperson John Okor Odey confirmed that the Commission received the petition on December 16, 2025, through Dangote’s legal counsel, and that the matter is now under active investigation.
