A Brazilian blogger has died after allegedly being pushed from a 10th-floor balcony by her husband in São Paulo, authorities said.
Maria Katiane Gomes da Silva, 25, is believed to have been killed by her husband, Alex Leandro Bispo dos Santos, 40, following a heated argument at their apartment. Emergency responders found Bispo dos Santos holding her body on the ground floor. He initially claimed she had taken her own life.
Police say surveillance footage disputes that account. Investigators report the video shows multiple physical assaults in the minutes before her death, including the suspect striking Gomes da Silva in the car park and grabbing her by the neck inside an elevator.
Footage allegedly shows him dragging her from the lift as she clung to the doors. About a minute later, he returned alone, appearing distressed. Shortly after, Gomes da Silva fell from the balcony.
Bispo dos Santos was arrested nine days later on suspicion of femicide.
Originally from Ceará state, Gomes da Silva had moved to São Paulo seeking new opportunities and built an online following creating makeup, travel, and wellness content. She is survived by a daughter from a previous relationship.
