Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Relocates to Sandringham as Epstein Pressure Intensifies

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has moved out of Royal Lodge in Windsor and is now temporarily living at Wood Farm Cottage on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk while renovations are carried out on a permanent property on the estate.

The relocation, originally expected later in early 2026, was brought forward amid renewed scrutiny following the latest release of files linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his prince title last year, left Royal Lodge on Monday night and is expected to ultimately settle at Marsh Farm, also on the Sandringham grounds.

Buckingham Palace confirmed in October that formal notice had been served to surrender his lease at Royal Lodge. The Sandringham Estate is privately owned by King Charles III, who is covering the costs of his brother’s new accommodation. Royal sources say the move is intended to reduce Mountbatten-Windsor’s public profile while maintaining a duty of care to him as a family member.

His departure follows mounting calls for him to give evidence in the United States over his association with Epstein, which he has consistently denied involved any wrongdoing. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently said anyone with relevant information should be prepared to testify.

The former duke remains under intense scrutiny due to longstanding allegations by Epstein survivors, including the late Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual abuse when she was a teenager, claims he has denied. Giuffre brought a civil case in 2021 that was settled in 2022. Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell was also named in those allegations and has since been convicted in the United States.

Recent document releases by the U.S. Department of Justice have renewed public attention on Mountbatten-Windsor’s contacts with Epstein after the financier’s 2008 conviction, including emails and images now circulating widely. Thames Valley Police are assessing fresh allegations reported by the BBC relating to an alleged encounter at Royal Lodge in 2010. Mountbatten-Windsor has not commented on those claims.

He is expected to return briefly to Windsor in the coming weeks to collect remaining belongings, but Norfolk is now his official base.
