Veteran CIA Officer Arrested Over $40 Million Gold Cache Linked to Senior Trump Pentagon Official

A former senior CIA officer has been arrested after federal investigators allegedly discovered more than $40 million worth of gold bars, millions in cash, and luxury watches during a raid on his Virginia home.

David Rush, who spent 17 years at the CIA and held a senior position within the agency’s Directorate of Science and Technology, is now at the center of a growing federal investigation into missing government assets.

According to reports, Rush previously worked alongside Stephen A. Feinberg, a billionaire businessman and current U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration. The two are believed to have first interacted during President Donald Trump’s first term through the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, where Feinberg served as chairman.

Federal authorities claim they recovered approximately $40 million in gold bars, around $2 million in cash, and several luxury watches, including Rolex timepieces, during the search.

Rush has reportedly argued that the gold and foreign currency were tied to official intelligence-related operations and work expenses. Court documents indicate he received substantial amounts of foreign currency and gold for government purposes.

Investigators began examining the case after the CIA reportedly could not account for the location of the assets, leading to the search warrant and subsequent arrest.

The allegations remain unproven, and the case is ongoing. Officials have not accused Feinberg of any wrongdoing, and reports suggest the two men were not considered close associates despite their previous overlap in government advisory roles.
