Trey Songz Arrested After Alleged Assault on Manhattan Nightclub Worker
R&B singer Trey Songz has been arrested following an alleged altercation with a Manhattan nightclub employee after being told the venue was closing.
The 41-year-old artist, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was at Dramma Night Club in Times Square with his entourage when staff informed him the club was shutting at about 4:25 a.m. on December 4. Prosecutors said Neverson became aggressive and allegedly punched an employee in the face.
Neverson was arraigned in Manhattan criminal court on Sunday on an assault charge related to the nightclub incident. He also faces a separate charge of second-degree criminal mischief stemming from an earlier incident that same morning at Mira, a Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge.
According to court documents, Neverson allegedly caused approximately $1,500 in damage at the restaurant, including broken hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas.
He appeared in court wearing a black face mask and was released on his own recognizance. The alleged victim from the nightclub was granted an order of protection. Prosecutors described Neverson as a regular patron of the venue.
His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, said the situation escalated after Neverson was confronted by individuals who allegedly attempted to surround him. Schuster said Neverson’s security stepped in to de-escalate the situation and that the altercation occurred amid confusion.
Despite what the defense described as provocation, Neverson was arrested. Schuster added that public figures are often targeted for confrontation and said his client is cooperating fully with authorities.
A judge granted supervised release, citing Neverson’s prior legal issues, and ordered him to return to court on February 18.
