Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of online fashion retailer ASOS, has died after falling from the 17th floor of his condominium in Pattaya, Thailand. He was 58.
Emergency responders found his body on the ground below the balcony of his apartment. Police said there were no immediate signs of disturbance inside the property, but foul play has not been ruled out pending forensic testing. A full post-mortem examination is expected to take several months.
His death comes amid an ongoing legal dispute involving his former Thai wife. She had accused him of forging documents to sell land and shares in a joint business without her consent. Griffiths denied the allegations and was previously arrested and questioned before being released. The investigation was reportedly continuing at the time of his death.
Griffiths helped launch ASOS in 2000 alongside Nick Robertson and Andrew Regan, serving as marketing director before leaving the company in 2005. The retailer later grew into a multibillion-pound global brand.
He reportedly made significant gains from share sales in 2010 and 2013. He later brought legal action against accounting firm BDO, claiming incorrect tax advice had cost him more than £4 million following the sale of shares in ASOS and Achica, another online retailer he co-founded.
Griffiths moved to Thailand around 2007. He is survived by his children. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death remain ongoing.
