Akon performed at an after-party for a documentary about Melania Trump on Thursday, January 29, in Washington, D.C.
More than 250 guests reportedly attended the event at a private members club owned by Donald Trump Jr., with Nicki Minaj also among those present.
Following the appearance, Akon shared a cryptic post on X featuring photos of himself in an orange prison jumpsuit, captioned: “If you know, you know.”
The singer, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam, has previously said he declined to endorse Donald Trump and once explored the idea of running for president in 2020.
In November, Akon was arrested in a suburb of Atlanta on an outstanding warrant and spent about six hours in DeKalb County Jail before being released. The warrant stemmed from a September traffic stop in which police found he was driving a Cybertruck with a suspended license.
