Music mogul Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, is now scheduled to be released from federal prison in February 2028, several months earlier than originally expected.
According to records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs’ latest projected release date is February 23, 2028.
The revised date marks the second reduction to his expected release. His original release had been set for June 4, 2028, before being moved forward to April 2028 earlier this year.
Combs, 56, is currently serving a 50-month sentence at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The Bad Boy Records founder was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a high-profile seven-week federal trial in New York.
However, he was acquitted of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges, which could have resulted in life imprisonment.
Despite avoiding the most severe allegations, Combs received a prison sentence that his legal team has described as unusually harsh for convictions under the Mann Act, the federal law used in the case.
His lawyers have since appealed both the conviction and the sentence before a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
The defence argues that prosecutors improperly applied the Mann Act and claims that U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian effectively acted as a “13th juror” by imposing what they described as an abnormally lengthy sentence.
Combs’ attorneys have also challenged the use of so-called “acquitted conduct sentencing,” arguing that the judge improperly increased his punishment based on allegations for which he had already been found not guilty.
The appeal remains ongoing.
Until then, Combs is expected to remain incarcerated in New Jersey, with his current projected release date set for February 23, 2028, unless further court rulings or sentence adjustments alter that timeline.
