Ghanaian ‘Prophet’ Arrested After Doomsday Flood Prediction Sparks Public Panic

Ghana’s police have arrested self-proclaimed prophet Evans Eshun, also known as Ebo Noah, after he predicted a worldwide flood would occur on December 25, 2025, prompting fear and confusion among the public.

Police confirmed the arrest in a statement published Wednesday, saying Eshun was detained by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team as part of wider monitoring of online activity ahead of 31 December religious services. Authorities have recently warned against public prophecies that could cause panic or disorder, especially during end-of-year church gatherings.

Police did not give detailed information about the specific allegations under investigation but said Eshun is in custody assisting with enquiries. No charges, court dates, or bail conditions have yet been announced. The statement reminded the public that the suspect remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Security agencies have previously cautioned religious figures that alarming prophecies may fall under laws governing public order and cyber-related offences.

Eshun drew attention last month after followers were seen entering one of eight wooden arks he built, claiming God told him a catastrophic flood would destroy the world on December 25 and only those inside the arks would be saved. The claims sparked anxiety, heavy online reaction, and visits to the sites out of fear and curiosity.

Police urged the public to stay calm and avoid speculation while investigations continue. Further updates are expected once the probe is complete.
