Update: Former college football player Quaydarius Davis was arrested on Saturday, April 12, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on domestic violence-related charges. The 22-year-old faces charges of first-degree burglary and domestic abuse.
According to reports, Davis was captured on a doorbell camera assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Ja’Yunna Monae, at an apartment complex. The footage allegedly shows Davis placing Monae in a chokehold until she lost consciousness following their breakup.
This is not Davis’s first brush with the law. In March 2021, at the age of 18, he was accused of striking a woman he lived with. He later accepted a plea deal, paid a fine, was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and completed a court-mandated domestic assault prevention program.
A highly touted four-star recruit from Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas, Davis initially committed to the University of Kansas in 2021. However, he was dismissed from the team after another woman accused him of assault and posted images of her injuries online. Though no charges were filed, the university responded with a statement: “Any violence against women is not acceptable.”

Davis went on to play at Jackson State University in 2022 before transferring to Southern University in Baton Rouge. He was dismissed from Southern’s football program in October 2024 for an unspecified rules violation.
Just days before his arrest, Davis announced on Instagram his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, retaining one year of eligibility. The portal opens from April 16 to April 25.
