A federal judge who sentenced reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley to prison has reportedly been reprimanded after an investigation found she engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a senior police officer inside her judicial chambers.
According to reports, U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross received a private reprimand following allegations that she had a two-year relationship with Atlanta Police Department Deputy Chief Kelley Collier. Both Ross and Collier are married to other people.
Investigative findings reportedly concluded that the relationship involved sexual encounters inside the judge’s chambers during business hours. The report described the conduct as a serious lapse in judgment and stated that it created an uncomfortable work environment for law clerks who worked nearby.
Deputy Chief Collier currently oversees the Atlanta Police Department’s community services division and has served with the department since 1998.
Judge Ross was nominated to the federal bench by former President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2014. Before becoming a federal judge, she served as a prosecutor and state court judge in Georgia.
Ross gained national attention in 2022 when she sentenced reality television personalities Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley after they were convicted on bank fraud and tax fraud charges.
The couple, best known for the television series Chrisley Knows Best, served approximately two years in prison before receiving pardons from President Donald Trump in 2025.
The reported reprimand has drawn attention because of the ethical standards expected of federal judges and concerns about workplace conduct within the judiciary. No allegations have been reported that the relationship affected any judicial rulings or court cases handled by Ross.
