Actor Jonathan Majors confessed to being aggressive and strangling his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, during a 2022 altercation.
On March 25, 2023, Jonathan was arrested and charged with assaulting and strangling Grace.
However, Rolling Stone magazine obtained audio recordings of Jonathan admitting to strangling Grace a year prior to the incident.
Jonathan’s legal team argued that Grace had fabricated the allegations and was the aggressor.
The audio recordings contradict everything Jonathan and his attorneys had claimed about Grace’s behavior.
“I’m ashamed, I’ve never gone and… I never wrestled with a woman before, “Jonathan said in the audio tape. “I never aggressed a woman – I aggressed you.”
Jonathan’s ex told him, “You strangled me and tried to push me against the car.”
“Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed,’ yeah,” said Jonathan.
“Because I said something sarcastically, in your eyes?” Grace asked him.
“Well clearly, it’s more than that,” Majors says.
“Something inside of you,” Grace says.
“Yeah, towards you,” he agrees, before the recording ends.
Jonathan’s fans expressed anger over the timing of the audio’s release on X (Twitter).
One fan wrote: “Notice how the ‘unearthed audio of Jonathan Majors admitting to strangling Grace Jabbari’ suddenly comes out when he’s doing press for Magazine Dreams and trying to move on with his life and not during 2023 when he lost everything.”

In his latest movie, Magazine Dreams, Jonathan Majors portrays a socially awkward bodybuilder named Killian Maddox, who faces sexual objectification from men. Killian struggles to overcome his inner demons and gain recognition.
Magazine Dreams premiered at Sundance in January 2023 and was acquired by Searchlight Pictures for a December 2023 release. However, Disney subsequently removed the film from its release schedule after Majors’s arrest. The movie was reinstated to its producers following Majors’s conviction.
Briarcliff Entertainment subsequently acquired the domestic distribution rights to the movie. Magazine Dreams is scheduled for release on March 21, 2025.
