Dana Eden, the creator and producer of Tehran, has been found dead in a hotel room in Athens while overseeing filming for the show’s fourth season. She was 52.
Eden was discovered by her brother after she failed to respond to repeated messages. Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of death, with an autopsy expected. Local reports indicate there is currently no evidence of foul play.
Her production company, Dana & Shula Productions, released a statement expressing shock and grief, describing her as a gifted creator with an international reputation.
Online speculation suggesting criminal or politically motivated involvement has been rejected by the company, which called the claims baseless and urged restraint and respect for the family’s privacy.
“Tehran,” which streams on Apple Inc.’s Apple TV+, won an International Emmy Award in 2021 for Best Drama Series. The show has featured performances by Glenn Close and Hugh Laurie in later seasons.
Production for season four is currently underway in Greece, with Athens serving as a stand-in for Tehran due to travel restrictions preventing Israelis from entering Iran. Filming is expected to continue.
