Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been captured in Dubai and extradited to the United States to face attempted murder charges related to a shooting in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood.
Authorities say Brown, 37, was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Florida after allegedly firing a handgun during a physical altercation at a boxing event on May 16. An off-duty officer working security reported witnessing the confrontation. When police detained Brown, he did not have a firearm, but officers found two spent shell casings and an empty holster in his possession.
After the incident, Brown fled the country and was later apprehended in Dubai. He was extradited to New York earlier this week, accompanied by federal agents, and has since been transferred to Florida, where he will stand trial.
According to TMZ, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player faces multiple charges connected to the altercation. Brown’s legal troubles add to a lengthy criminal record that includes prior arrests for domestic violence, felony battery, indecent exposure, and burglary.
Brown last played in the NFL in 2021 and has repeatedly announced his retirement once in 2023 and twice in 2024. His extradition marks the latest and most serious chapter in a string of controversies that have shadowed his post-football career.
