Boxing champion Devin Haney has filed a new lawsuit against his former fiancée, Leena Sayed, accusing her of holding on to more than $350,000 worth of luxury gifts after their engagement ended.
Filed last week in Los Angeles County, the complaint alleges Sayed has refused to return high-end items including Hermès handbags, an Audemars Piguet watch, a diamond ring, diamond earrings, and other designer purses. Haney argues that under California law, gifts given in anticipation of marriage must be returned if the wedding is called off. He claims he has suffered over $500,000 in damages.
The filing marks the second lawsuit Haney has brought against Sayed in recent weeks. Earlier this month, he accused her of extortion and defamation. The legal battle follows a temporary domestic violence restraining order Sayed secured against Haney about two months ago.
Sayed’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, dismissed the latest suit as retaliatory. “This appears to be an extension of his campaign to punish her for having obtained a domestic violence restraining order against him,” Kaplan told reporters. “He needs to get real.”
Haney, 25, and Sayed began dating around two years ago and welcomed a daughter, Khrome, in January.
