UPS Flight 2976, a McDonnell Douglas MD-11 cargo aircraft traveling from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, has crashed shortly after takeoff, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The incident occurred around 17:15 local time (22:15 GMT). Louisville Metro Police have reported injuries at the scene, and authorities have issued a shelter-in-place order for residents within a five-mile radius of the airport.

Louisville International Airport has closed its airfield, and unverified videos circulating online show heavy smoke rising from the area.
