Two U.S. Service Members Killed, One Missing After Iranian Missile and Drone Attack in Jordan

Two U.S. service members were killed and another remains missing after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeted American and partner forces in Jordan, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Four additional U.S. service members were injured during the attack but have since been treated at hospitals in Jordan and discharged.

CENTCOM said the attack took place on Friday as U.S. and allied forces defended against incoming Iranian missiles and drones. Military officials have not released the identities of the two service members who were killed or the individual who remains missing, saying their names will be withheld until their families have been notified.

The military also declined to provide further operational details about the incident or the exact location where the attack occurred. Officials confirmed that personnel who sustained minor injuries have already returned to duty.

The latest casualties bring the number of U.S. service members killed since the conflict with Iran began to 16, while more than 430 have been wounded.

The announcement came as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate.

Remarks attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned that Iran would deliver “unforgettable lessons” if the United States continued its military campaign. The comments also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump and indicated that Tehran was suspending its commitments under an interim agreement reached about a month ago.

The United States and Iran have continued exchanging strikes targeting military infrastructure and strategic facilities across the region. Fighting has intensified around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route for oil exports, raising fresh concerns over regional stability and global energy markets.

CENTCOM said its latest overnight operations struck Iranian surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities and maritime capabilities as part of ongoing efforts to degrade Iran’s military assets.

The deaths represent one of the deadliest incidents involving U.S. forces since the latest phase of the conflict began and underscore the increasing risks facing American personnel deployed across the Middle East as hostilities continue to intensify.
