Legendary filmmaker, Steven Spielberg has joined the exclusive list of entertainers to achieve EGOT status after winning a Grammy Award on Sunday, February 1.

The 79-year-old director clinched the Grammy for Best Music Film for the documentary Music by John Williams, completing the rare sweep of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. Only 21 individuals in entertainment history have accomplished the feat.

The documentary celebrates the life and work of iconic composer John Williams, now 93, whose collaborations with Spielberg span decades and include timeless classics such as Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List.

Reacting to the win, Spielberg described the recognition as deeply meaningful, noting that it affirms what he has believed for more than 50 years about Williams’ unmatched influence on music and popular culture. He praised the composer’s artistry and legacy as unrivaled.

Spielberg’s awards history includes three Academy Awards, two for Best Director and one for Best Picture for Schindler’s List, as well as four Primetime Emmy Awards for projects including the acclaimed World War II miniseries Band of Brothers. He earned his Tony Award as a producer on the Broadway musical A Strange Loop.

The Grammy win cements Spielberg’s place among an elite group of entertainment legends whose careers have spanned film, television, theatre and music at the highest level.
