Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has qualified for the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final after producing a series of impressive performances in the women’s 100 metres hurdles this season.
The world record holder secured her place in the season-ending championship by collecting 28 points across five Diamond League meetings, comfortably earning qualification for the final, which will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on September 4 and 5.
Amusan currently sits second in the Diamond League standings with 28 points, trailing only American hurdler Masai Russell, who leads the rankings with 32 points.
Both athletes are expected to feature in the remaining Diamond League events in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the championship finale in Belgium.
Amusan has delivered remarkable consistency throughout the season, matching her season’s best performance of 12.28 seconds on three separate occasions. The former world champion has remained among the leading contenders in every major meeting, reinforcing her status as one of the sport’s elite hurdlers.
Russell currently owns the fastest women’s 100m hurdles time in the world this year after clocking 12.14 seconds, setting up what promises to be a highly anticipated showdown in Brussels.
Amusan will be chasing a fourth Diamond League title when the season concludes, adding to an already distinguished career that includes a world championship and the women’s 100m hurdles world record.
The Diamond League Final will bring together the highest-ranked athletes from the season, with Amusan hoping to finish her campaign by reclaiming the prestigious title against the world’s best hurdlers.
