Dr. Dre has officially reached billionaire status after being included in Forbes’ updated list of the World’s Richest People.
The legendary producer now has an estimated net worth of $1 billion, placing him around 3,332nd on the global rich list, tied with Beyoncé.

The milestone places Dr. Dre among a small group of wealthy musicians:
- Second-richest hip-hop artist, behind Jay-Z
- Sixth musician overall to appear on the billionaire list
Wealth Built from Beats and Music
Much of Dre’s fortune comes from music production and his headphone company Beats Electronics.
In 2014, Apple acquired Beats in a $3 billion deal, with Apple integrating it into its streaming ecosystem.
Dre reportedly earned about $500 million from that sale, making him the richest hip-hop artist at the time, though still short of billionaire status.
Net Worth Fluctuations
His wealth has shifted over the years:
- 2022: Estimated net worth fell to $400 million
- 2023: Sold part of his music catalog to Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group for about $250 million
The deal included portions of royalties, producer income, and rights linked to music from his catalog, including work connected to the rap group N.W.A.
