Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has spoken publicly for the first time about her half-brother Marius Borg Høiby, who faces multiple criminal charges, including rape and domestic violence.
In an interview published by NRK on November 2, the 21-year-old future queen addressed the situation surrounding her brother’s upcoming trial, describing it as “difficult” for the entire family.
“Of course it’s difficult. Both for those of us who are around, for me as a sister, and for mom and dad. And, of course, for everyone affected by the case,”
Ingrid Alexandra said from the University of Sydney, where she is studying for a bachelor’s degree in social sciences.
When asked what it was like to experience the ordeal while living abroad, the princess replied:
“Yes, it is… I don’t know if I want to go into it much more than that.”
Marius, 28, is scheduled to stand trial in February 2026. He faces accusations of raping four women and has been charged with 32 offences, including rape, domestic violence, and assault, according to AFP.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra is the daughter of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and she is second in line to the Norwegian throne.
Marius is Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son from a previous relationship prior to her marriage to Haakon in 2001.
The royal family has not issued a separate public statement regarding the case, and Norwegian media have noted that the palace continues to treat the matter as a private family issue while respecting the judicial process.
