Meghan Markle Returns to Acting with Cameo in Amazon MGM Film

Meghan Markle is set to return to acting after an eight-year break, appearing as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends, according to Variety. The film’s cast includes Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.

An industry source told The Sun that the role marks “a massive moment” for the Duchess of Sussex and “signifies a return to doing what she truly loves.” The source added that Markle “has been swamped with offers but this one felt right,” describing the project as “a gentle way of putting her toe back in the water.”

Reports from People indicate that Markle has already filmed her scenes. “She has a small part. She seemed very relaxed and happy,” a production insider said. “She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”

This will be Markle’s first on-screen role since leaving Suits in 2017, where she portrayed paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons before departing following her engagement to Prince Harry.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have settled in Montecito, California, focusing on media and philanthropic ventures under their Archewell brand. Markle’s new film appearance marks her first return to the entertainment industry since becoming a member of the royal family.
