Singer-songwriter Christina Perri, renowned for her hit song “A Thousand Years,” has filed for divorce from her husband, Paul Costabile, after seven years of marriage.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Perri filed the divorce papers on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. The filing also specifies the same day as their official date of separation, suggesting that the decision was made recently and swiftly.
Perri and Costabile share two young daughters, a 7-year-old named Carmella and a 3-year-old named Pixie. In her divorce filing, the singer requested joint legal and physical custody of their children.
The 38-year-old artist also requested that the court terminate the possibility of spousal support for Costabile, who works as a television personality and entertainment reporter. Additionally, Perri confirmed that the couple has a prenuptial agreement in place.
The couple first met in 2013 during an interview and later got married in December 2017. This would have marked their eighth wedding anniversary in just six weeks.
This marks Perri’s first marriage, and the divorce comes after a series of personal challenges she has faced in recent years. These challenges include her public openness about her pregnancy loss and her journey through grief and motherhood.
