U.S. Vice President JD Vance Welcomes Fourth Child With Wife Usha

U.S. Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.

The couple announced that Alec was born on Sunday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. In a joint statement shared on social media, they said both mother and baby were doing well.

“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” the statement read.

Alec joins the couple’s three older children—Ewan, nine, Vivek, six, and Mirabel, four—making the Vance family a household of six.

The birth is also historically significant. Alec is believed to be the first child born to a sitting U.S. vice president in more than 150 years. The last vice president to welcome a child while in office was Schuyler Colfax, whose son, Schuyler Colfax III, was born in 1870 during the administration of President Ulysses S. Grant.

Vance, 41, and Usha, 40, first met while studying at Yale Law School, where they both graduated in 2013. Since Vance took office as vice president, the family has frequently travelled together on official overseas visits, with their children often accompanying their parents on diplomatic trips aboard Air Force Two.

The arrival of Alec marks a joyful personal milestone for the vice president and his family as they continue balancing public service with life in the national spotlight.
