Sarah Huckabee Sanders To Resign as White House Press Secretary

Sarah Huckabee Sanders has resigned from her position as White House press secretary.

President Donald Trump announced Sanders’s resignation on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

“After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas,” Trump tweeted.

He continued: “She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!”

Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, plans to be a stay-at-home mother to the three children she shares with husband Bryan.

Sanders, 36, first joined the administration as Sean Spicer’s deputy after working with the Trump campaign.

She replaced Spicer as White House press secretary in July 2017. Sanders clashed frequently with the White House press corps. As a result of increasing hostility from reporters, the traditional daily press briefings became less frequent during her tenure. The last press briefing was held on March, 11.
