Stanley Wilson Jr., a former cornerback for the Detroit Lions, passed away abruptly at age 40. Wilson reportedly fell ill and passed away earlier this month while being admitted to a mental facility in Los Angeles County, claims TMZ.
Wilson was detained on February 1 for vandalism after it was claimed that he broke into a property in the Hollywood Hills and bathed there.
Prosecutors claim that Wilson was deemed unable to stand trial. For a mental assessment, he was moved to Metropolitan State Hospital.
Wilson lost consciousness and fainted during hospital admittance.
The 2005 Lions selected Wilson in the third round of the draught. Before sustaining a career-ending injury in 2008, he spent two seasons with Detroit.
After his professional career ended in 2016, Wilson had a history of home invasions.
A home invasion attempt in Southwest Portland in 2016 resulted in a shot to the abdomen of a nude Wilson.
