Melania and Donald Trump
Donald married Melania Trump (née Knavs) at a star-studded wedding ceremony in Palm Beach in January 2005. Born in Slovenia, the former model moved to New York in 1996 and became a U.S. citizen in 2006, the same year she and Donald welcomed Barron. The first lady played a controversial role in her husband’s presidential campaign. In July 2016, she sparked plagiarism claims when she gave a now-infamous speech at the Republican National Convention that contained a paragraph that was nearly identical to one from Michelle Obama‘s 2008 Democratic National Convention address. She has stated that fighting cyberbullying will be a priority for her as FLOTUS, despite Donald’s controversial, and often offensive, Twitter posts.
