Yoruba actor James Olarenwaju, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, is currently before the Ikeja Special Offences Court where a verdict on his sexual assault case will be delivered today, July 14.
Baba Ijesha was arraigned before the court by the Lagos State government on a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, will today deliver judgment in the case.
Since April 22, 2022, Baba Ijesha has been entangled in a messy rape trial for allegedly sexually assaulting the 14-year-old foster daughter of his comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, aka Princess. The case has lasted over 12 months since Baba Ijesha’s arrest on April 22, 2021, and arraignment on June 24, 2021.
